Primary Purpose
The primary purpose of this position is as follows:
Technical Service Representatives provide product support to internal Tnemec personnel as well as outside customers and agency representatives and their staff. Tnemec Technical Services offers a wide variety of product support for all Tnemec products from specification to application and from the beginning of a product’s service-life cycle to the end.
Duties and Responsibilities
Listed below are the primary duties that will be performed:
- TSRs must continue their education in the coatings industry to show advancement towards a mastery of industry knowledge including:
- Corrosion Prevention
- Industry standard test methods
- Industry standard specification requirements
- TSRs must continue their education in the coatings industry to sow advancement towards a mastery in the following categories:
- Coatings technology
- Application and equipment techniques
- Inspection equipment and techniques
- Test methods and equipment
- Advanced written and verbal communication skills
- Perform department tasks as assigned including technical services such as:
- Product complaint investigation
- Product support via telephone and e-mail correspondence
- Field work including
- Job start-up support
- Product complaint trouble-shooting
- New product demonstrations
- Failure analysis sample collection
- Other field work as deemed necessary
- Laboratory work including:
- Material application evaluations (MAEs)
- Formal adhesion testing of Tnemec products over various products and substrates
- Product demonstrations
- Ad hoc product testing
- Sample-chip analysis
- Product support via written correspondence including:
- Technical Service Preliminary Research Summary
- Reports on generic analysis and overcoat analysis
- Product failure analysis
- Filed trip reports
- Customer form letters
- Provide support for the training of:
- Customers
- Agency Representatives new hires
- Technical services new hires
Qualifications
Qualifications
- NACE Level 2 CIP certification
- Proven history of high-quality performance in a similar role
- Effective written and verbal communication
- Aptitude for basic mathematical skills
- Capability to complete assignments independently with minimal supervision
- Ability to move objects up to 100 pounds
- Proficiency in handling field assignments with minimal supervision
- Ability to remain customer-focused in confrontational scenarios
- Willingness to travel alone regularly on company business, sometimes for extended periods of time
- Field painting experience is a plus
