Built in 1994, the Linwood Elevated Storage Tank serves southeast Shreveport and greets travelers entering the city along I-49 from southern Louisiana. As part of Shreveport’s focus on arts and community identity, the City partnered with the Regional Arts Council to transform the tank into a work of public art. Its design features the city’s airport code, SHV, the tagline “City on the Red” honoring the Red River, and a hidden “SHV LOVE” message in Morse code around the top. The result is a water tank that welcomes visitors while celebrating the city it serves.
