Technical Service Representative
Primary Purpose
The primary purpose of this position is to provide top-notch product support to internal Tnemec personnel, external customers, and agency representatives and their staff. Tnemec Technical Services offers a comprehensive range of product support for all Tnemec products, from specification to application, and throughout the entire service-life cycle of a product.
Duties and Responsibilities
The primary duties to be performed, with a strong emphasis on general responsibilities, include:
- Continuously develop expertise in the coatings industry, including:
- Corrosion prevention o Industry standard test methods
- Industry standard specification requirements
- Leverage field experience to provide practical and effective solutions to customers and contribute to the team's overall knowledge base (experience in field painting is a plus).
- Enhance knowledge and skills in the following categories:
- Coatings technology
- Application and equipment techniques
- Inspection equipment and techniques
- Test methods and equipment
- Advanced written and verbal communication skills
- Perform department tasks as assigned, including but not limited to:
- Product complaint investigation
- Product support via telephone and email correspondence
- Fieldwork, including:
- Job start-up support
- Product complaint troubleshooting
- New product demonstrations
- Failure analysis sample collection
- Assist with equipment rental and staffing support for plural applied coatings, ensuring efficient and effective project execution.
- Other fieldwork as deemed necessary
- Laboratory work, including:
- Material application evaluations (MAEs)
- Formal adhesion testing of Tnemec products over various products and substrates
- Product demonstrations
- Ad hoc product testing
- Sample-chip analysis
- Product support via written correspondence, including:
- Technical Service Preliminary Research Summary
- Reports on generic analysis and overcoat analysis
- Product failure analysis
- Field trip reports
- Customer form letters
- Provide support for the training of:
- Customers
- New Agency Representatives
Qualifications
- NACE Level 2 CIP certification
- Proven history of high-quality performance in a similar role
- Effective written and verbal communication
- Aptitude for basic mathematical skills
- Capability to complete assignments independently with minimal supervision
- Ability to move objects up to 100 pounds
- Proficiency in handling field assignments with minimal supervision
- Ability to remain customer-focused in confrontational scenarios
- Willingness to travel alone regularly on company business, sometimes for extended periods of time
- Field painting experience is a plus
